This page will discuss options, settings, and recomendations to ensure that your backup is going to work correctly.
1) VIRUSES & SPYWARE. Be sure your computer is good working order and has updated Antivirus software. Be sure it is free of viruses, spyware or failing components. Visit a local technician if you need assistance with this. Customers located in Eastern Massachusetts can optionally have a Terabak Tech come out to fix these problems - additional charges apply.
2) PERFORM MAILBOX MAINTENANCE. Users of Outlook Express and Outlook. As a matter of course you should be performing regular maintenance in your mail program. Delete unwanted mail, Delete Sent Items (if not needed), Empty the 'Deleted Items' Folder. Many users do not realize they must empty the 'Deleted Items' Folder in your mail program to permenantly delete that mail. They also do not realize that a copy of every sent email is also kept. Both are a tremendous waste of space unless there is some compelling reason to keep the email. Users of Microsoft Outlook Express would benefit by making additional folders and moving the mail you want to save into those folders. Check our Support page for more information.
3) BACKUP SELECTION. When you run the backup software there are several items that will automatically be selected for you. Your data locations for My Documents, Favorites, Outlook Express and Outlook (not MS Exchange) are pre selected for backup. Select additional items and folders and then schedule and save your 'backup set'
4) SLEEP & POWER MODES. The computer that is going to run the Terabak software must not go to sleep or be turned off, or the backup will not work. Make sure that you turn off your sleep or suspend modes. Check our Support page for more information.
5) DO NOT install the Terabak backup software on another system and use your same logon creditentials to login unless your system has become damaged, or has been replaced. Creating a new backup set on the second system will erase your existing data files and replace them with the ones from the second system. Each system you want to have backed up will require a seperate user account and plan. You may however backup networked drives in order to backup data from other computers. Check our Support page for more information.
